(A BBC Documentary)

According to Doucleff (2013), India has lately become infamous for its epidemic sexual violence and discrimination against women. Sexual harassment there is so rampant that it even has a nickname: Eve-teasing.

This documentary is focused on the feels of being a woman in India. The first scenes were about the worldwide-known incident that happened in Delhi last December 2012: a gang rape while in a moving bus. The victim was tortured and raped plenty of times by six (6) men, and then died after two days of serious operations.

Imagine a country where the most powerful political figure, two billionaires, three of the most dominant regional politicians, several prominent CEOs, and half of local government representatives are women. Now imagine that, in that same country, one-third of adult women are illiterate, spousal rape is not illegal, and sex-selective abortion and female infanticide are still widely practiced. (Jaishankar, 2013)

As a woman, I am affected in these phenomena; I cannot see the reason behind every abuse and discriminations on the women in their country for they should be well-treated and respected as they are the ones who have been taking care for their spouses and children.

Hearing the news last December about the gang rape case, was very traumatic for me and my mom. We would never want to go to India that late –ever. What the rapists have done to the victim was very sick and unbelievable. I bet the rapists might have been taking illegal drugs.

Who would have thought that watching the movie “Life of Pi” would literally cost a life? The victim and her friend was just about to go home that time after their movie-date, ’til they rode the wrong bus and faced that incident occurred.

But rape isn’t the only discrimination that a woman can encounter in India.  A Thomas Reuters Foundation (2011) survey says that India is the fourth most dangerous place in the world for women to live in. Acid attacks are also dominant in this region, also the so-called sex-selective abortion, trafficking, and sexual harassment.

The discrimination starts even in their mothers’ womb. According to Doucleff, Indian mothers were slightly more likely to seek out better prenatal care when carrying a boy than when carrying a girl, economists report in the Journal of Human Resources. This means that they could decide more likely to kill their child if it results to be a girl.

I pity my ‘co-Eve’s there in India. I believe that the curse as a woman in India would eventually subside in the near future. They should realize that the things that they have been continually doing are the causes why tourists are now cautious on visiting India.

“India’s image is spoiled when incidents like this happen,” Mr. Dixit, 38, said ruefully while hustling for customers on a recent evening. “It’s unfortunate, and it isn’t good for business.” (Bagri, 2013)

This documentary have awakened lots of people that are ignorant about this matter. India government should do something about this.

Voxer Walkie Talkie is a device app for communications worldwide with the help of wi-fi. It is both a live “push-to-talk” system and a voice messaging system; though it still includes the very standard way of conversing, which is text messaging, and the usual photo messaging.

Voxer Walkie Talkie works on Android, Windows OS, and iOS operating systems. It’s more like Viber, Tango, WeChat, or etc. but has the unique strategy of instant voice messaging. However, since Voxer is just like Viber, the walkie talkie system of the app does not work on BlackBerry devices; if it does, it might only imply the text and photo messaging.

This app has been satisfying its users since 2007 with a not-boring-way of talking to others. They would enjoy the walkie talkie ‘feels’ of using it.

Trae, a blogger, worshipped Voxer in his statement: “Of course Voxer provides the traditional features of typing a message or sending pictures which worked perfectly, but the beauty lies in its mainstream usage by Apple iPhone user and Google Android users. As it stands there isn’t a standard protocol for all devices with data but Voxer successfully and professionally fills the PTT gap in my opinion.

It is also available as Voxer Pro, where business-related stuff are discussed here and only those professionals can use it.

Before my iPhone was snatched, well, I really had fun using Voxer since it entertains me while coping with my friends that are miles away from me. And when my brother discovered how to use the app, he was like “Roger… krshhk krshhk” “Come in, roger. Krshhk” Yes, he felt like…

Kidding aside… So I was staring on the app while doing this blog. Then I realized, it looks familiar… really familiar.

I have been staring at it while thinking whose familiar cartoon face was that…

Until it hit me…

Well, you know him. Finn from Adventure time! *laughs*

See, this app is really entertaining. I guarantee you would definitely find it fun!

“I told you—,” I started to say.
“Did you know that ‘I told you so’ has a brother, Jacob?” she asked, cutting me off. “His name is ‘Shut the hell up.'”

Stephenie Meyer – Breaking Dawn

As a former Twilight fanatic, I’m one of those who have gone loco while reading this final book of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Saga. I was very entertained with what’s inside of the book. Honestly speaking, I don’t read novels or other books unless it’s something interesting. But this saga kept me going, and even made me skip meals just to finish the current chapter I’m reading. A proof of my addiction is this photo that I took with the flashlight on. The electricity was out that time, but that didn’t hinder me from reading this novel.

Chapter 10 “Why Didn’t I Just Walk Away? Oh Right, Because I’m An Idiot.”, is under Jacob’s point of view. It’s when he stayed beside Bella even though it hurts him that Bella is Edward’s forever, and she’s in pain. He called himself an idiot for seeing his love one slowly dying because of its ‘monster’ inside. One thing’s making him stay and ignore the hard feelings of what his situation is. He already imprinted on Bella’s half mortal, half immortal child in her womb, Renesmee.

/Im•print (n) the involuntary mechanism by which Quileute shape-shifters find their soul-mates./

The excerpt is a conversation between Jacob and Bella. It was a serious matter that Jacob should really talk  to Bella as Edward asked him to. The converse made me smile while reading it. Bella cut Jacob off in a sarcastic way.

Posted at Goodreads Inc. (2013), 2,616 people liked this segment from the chapter. And it was the excerpt with most likes. I bet they liked it for its humor and content. Stephenie Meyer did greater than ‘great’ on this part.

Also, Kaleb Nation (2009) stated that he found so much amusement in this conversation, and made this:

Well, the photo proved that I’m not alone on seeing this excerpt to be funny. *big smile*

Last year, an animated movie about monsters and other scary mythical creatures, was out in cinemas. It is titled, “Hotel Transylvania,” a hotel in Transylvania – which according to Melton, J. – is a historical region in the central part of Romania. And he added that it is associated with vampires.

The story of this animation revolves around a vampire father and daughter relationship. Count Dracula a very dedicated and overprotective father wants his little Mavis on his own. He doesn’t want her to experience what he and his wife who passed away, Martha had experienced from humans before, that’s why he built a place where he knows that not only Mavis can be safe, but every monster in this world will be. He called it Hotel Transylvania. But that place didn’t keep all of them safe from people, especially Mavis. Not only she saw one, but fell in love with it too… It’s like a Twilight love affair, where there is a vampire and a human fell in love with each other.

IMDb rated “Hotel Transylvania” 7 of 10. Many really have liked the way it is made and produced. One review said “One of the best (funniest) animations I’ve seen in years!“ Yet some titled their reviews, “Nothing Special.”, “Good Idea, but not executed very well…”, and other unsatisfactory comments.

This monster-related movie is yet another cutie, comedy film co-produced by Adam Sandler and as expected, he’s also one of the casts – specifically Dracula. Another review from IMDb even titled her review “Fun for everyone,” and said “There is nothing terribly scary for even young viewers.”

It’s the first movie about vampires I saw that made me laugh, cry, blush and relate with some situations in the film. One is the situation of Mavis, the vampire girl, which she can’t go and explore the world since she is still a minor and her dad, thinks she can’t handle herself yet. In this film, monsters are the ones scared of humans, not the other way around.

The trailer gives almost all the hints that you can see in this movie. It is very worth watching! I really love this movie so much, that until now I still watch it a lot of times with my brother or boy friend. It is a family-oriented movie. You will have tons of laughs and a bit of heart-melting feelings. But of course it has pros and cons. Stated by Eric Larnick, one of the pros of this animation is “Adam Sandler is surprisingly enjoyable.” And its con is “Adam Sandler’s reputation Sandler is a love ’em or leave ’em kind of comedian — and after movies like “Jack and Jill” and “That’s My Boy,” the leave ’ems might have the majority. The idea of listening to him talk with a half-rate Transylvanian accent for 90 minutes is enough to scare a lot of people away.”

Anyway, it’s still up to you if you’re going to watch it or not, for it is a very nice movie by Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation. You might be zing-ed with this movie!

– What is the video all about? –

The music video “How to Love” by Lil Wayne is about making the right choices and paths to take in life. It was then a video obviously about what happened to a daughter that was unfortunately misled and not well-taken care of. It was first shown, after her mom’s scenarios that she had her life in the most miserable way, where she was involved with vices that also lead her in selling herself as a pleasure for the men. And at the end of the wrong way, was a dead end that she had to face: she got HIV. But after the negativities that were shown, was the other way around. There, the mother chose a different path for her and her daughter’s life. The daughter grew up well, graduated, and got pregnant with the right person and right time.

The video showed the consequences one must face when making a decision, yet despite the rights and wrongs there is he who appreciates and looks at the girl’s brightest part.

– What’s with this song? –

This inspiring song by Lil Wayne is one of my all-time-favourites. First, I was shocked when the rapper sang a love song like this, then when I saw its music video; I was more inspired about the twist of story. We all know that it’s not his “thing” in singing such song like this. Even the video wasn’t what I expected.

“A lot of women don’t know how to love because there’s deep reasons for them not knowing how to love,” he explained. “And what I mean by deep reasons is deep and dark reasons. A lot of people don’t open up that can and I figured that I can open up that can of worms and see what happens.”[1]

To be honest, I was thinking about a woman’s love life that was cheated on, but the video had a deeper meaning of knowing how to love. I am really surprised to see something like this from Lil Wayne, it proved me that he’s someone who’s at his highest peak of his life yet he still shares his ‘advises’ or ‘possible consultations’ that might comfort and relieve others that can relate or not.

As a girl, I really love how Lil Wayne appreciated everything about us (girls). It was reflected on the lyrics, that even there are blemishes or scars from the past he still sees that girl as the best and as a beautiful one. It made me realize that even rappers like him has a very humble heart for things like this. Looks are indeed deceiving – you will never know who are the-who’s.

Since the song received generally positive reviews from critics, complimenting the low tone and mellow meaning in the lyrics. I would definitely recommend this video to everyone to inspire them, and make them learn from this song/music video – like I did.

Amanda Hensel of PopCrush commended the “new side” displayed by Lil Wayne in the song, stating “we haven’t heard Young Weezy like this before, but if [it] is a result of his new lady friend, we welcome it with open arms. Not that we want the rap master to go all singer-songwriter on us, but this gem shows that even the hardest of exteriors can have a gooey center.”[2]
